Biography of Jessica Paige Furney |
|
On the clear warm morning of October 4, 1988, Jessica Paige Furney was born to John and Susan Furney. Jessica was raised with her younger sister, Laura, and older brother, Tyler, on an old farm south of Wamego, Kansas. Jessica has entertained audiences ever since her parents brought home their first video camera. Jessica first stepped onto a stage when she was 8 years old to sing a rockin' rendition of "Barbara Ann" by the Beach Boys for her school's talent show. Jessica's talent was quickly recognized and recruited for many local choirs and plays.
The stage rapidly became Jessica's love. Wamego's community theater, The Colombian, created many opportunities for her to learn and grow as a performer. With the help of many wonderful music teachers to guide her way, Jessica found her passion for singing. After her parents' divorce, Jessica turned to writing music as a way to express her feelings. She picked up playing piano and learned music theory to develop better writing skills. In high school Jessica competed in competitions, winning several such as the Spring Music Festival.
After graduation, Jessica Furney alternated between going to school and living abroad. She stayed in Ireland for a year where, in her free time, she learned how to play her beloved Tanglewood guitar. A year later she went backpacking around South America for four months. Upon her return from Ireland, Jessica won the State Colgate Country Showdown and was a Hollywood finalist in the Season 8 of American Idol.
Jessica combines her love of old rock and blues with her knowledge of jazz and country to create a unique and diverse sound and style that is all her own. With a hopeful future this little girl with a big voice relentlessly chases her dream with a tenacity only her Grandma could fully appreciate.
